Our Expertise
As a company that specializes in a broad range of creative and marketing services, our list of preferred technology including software and hardware is fairly extensive. Grab a cup of coffee if you plan on reading this entire page. It makes it easier.
Autodesk 3ds Max 2010

While we prefer to work in Maya, we can work with Max scenes and objects as well if your project needs require it.
Adobe Acrobat

We use Acrobat for packaging and putting together read only page layouts, generally after exporting them from a program like InDesign.
Adobe After Effects CS4

We use After Effects for most of our video effects, post production and compositing needs.
Avid Media Composer 5

Avid Media Composer is the film and broadcast standard for video production of all sorts. We use this for the majority of our video projects.
TechSmith Camtasia Studio 6

We use TechSmith's Camtasia exclusively for all of our screen capture needs, be it for creating a tutorial or recording a video of one of our projects from start to finish to showcase.
Adobe Dreamweaver CS4

While we generally code without the assistance of a GUI or WYSIWYG setup, we find that Dreamweaver is handy for keeping our code organized and efficiently structured into proper hierarchy.
Adobe Flash Pro CS4

We utilize Flash Pro for all of our Flash work, actionscripting, etc.
Adobe Fireworks CS4

Fireworks comes in handy for vector graphics and web ready graphics, however we generally prefer Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for such work due to their workflow benefits. We can work with existing Fireworks projects if need be, however.
Adobe Illustrator CS4

We rely almost exclusively on Illustrator for our vector based image needs. We will use it for a lot of our logo work and less detailed images where aliasing isn't a requirement.
Adobe InDesign CS4

InDesign plays a huge role in any of our page layout work we do for print. This includes book, magazine, and flyer creation.
Autodesk Maya 2010

Maya is perhaps one of the most complex pieces of software ever created, at least in the entertainment industry. It is the industry standard for 3D entertainment creation and our software of choice for the same. We create all of our 3D projects using Maya unless specifically requested otherwise.
Mental Ray

Mental Ray is the industry standard for photorealistic image rendering. We generally will use the Mental Ray rendering engine for all of our renders due to the enormous benefit in overall quality and realism vs other engines.
Audodesk Mudbox

We use Mudbox for more comples 3D models when finer details are required.
Corel Painter 11

While we generally stick to Photoshop, we can work in Painter as well for a more realistic "painted" look and feel should your project require it.
Adobe Photoshop Extended CS4

Photoshop is the leading graphic creation and editing software on the market today. It's no surprise, given the vast number of functions and tools build into it. We use Photoshop in one way or another for just about every project we take on.
Adobe Premiere Pro CS4

We use Premiere with some of our After Effects video projects.
Apple Quicktime Pro

Apple Quicktime Pro is very beneficial for quick video work and for creating sample videos. We use it from time to time to splice existing videos together or do very basic edits.
Autodesk ScetchBook

Again, while preferring Photoshop for our drawing and digital art needs, SketchBook is another program that we use from time to time when hand drawing images via a tablet.
Adobe Soundbooth

Combined with Premiere, Soundbooth is an essential part of our video editing pipeline. We use it to tweak sound effects, music, and any other audio we'll be using in each project.
Pixelogic ZBrush

Along with Mudbox, we use Zbrush for adding more details to some of the 3D models we create.
MySQL

When it comes to databases, we prefer MySQL and PHP over the various alternatives. We find that the combo is extremely scalable and works well for just about every type of website our clients require.
.php

Combined with MySQL, we work almost exclusively with the PHP web programming language.
ionCube

We use ionCube technology to encode and compress PHP per client requirements. Generally this would be used when clients will be selling a script we create and don't want to make the source code available to the public. Clients always receive the source code from us, obviously.
Windows 7

All of the workstations in our office are running Windows 7. We highly prefer it over Windows XP and Vista due to it's seamless 64 bit integration and functionality.
Windows Server

We work with clients that use Windows Server 2000, 2003, and 2008 and can ensure that anything we develop will function in these environments if required.
Linux Server

We work with Linux customers on a regular basis as well and can ensure that any web apps, websites, etc that we develop will work in this environment as well.

Adobe Flash Media Server

Adobe Flash Media Server is the industry standard for streaming Flash based media, providing users with an interactive Flash based experience, etc. We can assist you in implementing this into your website and web applications if required. A license from Adobe is required to run this software on your server.
Google Apps

Google Apps are quickly becoming more and more of a necessity for businesses both small and large. We can implement Google Apps with your existing website to assist in streamlining several aspects of your day to day business needs.

vBulletin

vBulletin is the #1 preferred forum software in the world. We have been working with vBulletin since the days of vBulletin 1.x and therefore can bring quite a bit to the table. We can create custom skins, plugins, products, and entirely off the wall custom projects that you want implemented with vBulletin.
Invision Power

Invision Power creates forum software similar to that of vBulletin. It's the #2 most widely used forum and community software in the world today. While we specialize and work more with vBulletin (and would recommend it over Invision), we can develop and work with Invision based communities as well, offering services such as skin design, custom functionality, etc.
Half-Life

No, we don't make Half-Life mods or levels (although some of us have played around with them). We just like to play Half-Life games and mods in our spare time. And no, we aren't ashamed to include this in our list of expertise because after many years of playing the game we feel we've become experts. ;-)
Anti-Piracy Policy
At NURV one of our core beliefs is that piracy in any form is wrong. Design software is known to be expensive. That doesn't make it ok to steal it. We proudly support all of the companies that make the software we use by paying for each and every license we require.
If you are an up and coming designer, we encourage you to do the right thing and pay for your software. If you can't afford to pay, then save up for it. Business ethics are important to learn early on, regardless of where you are at financially. We tip our hats to the young developers out there who are struggling to make ends meet, but still choosing to do the right thing.
