We've compiled a list of questions we get asked on a regular basis into this simple page. If you have a question that's not addressed here then feel free to contact us.
There are many reasons why we might not list certain completed projects in our portfolio. Some of our clients require NDA's. Other clients simply fall into the "The customer is always right" category. Believe it or not but some people will stick to a specific idea even after being told that it won't look good or isn't recommended for whatever reasons. In these cases we simply do the work and avoid listing it in our portfolio. Lastly, we offer a wide variety of services. There might be cases where we simply haven't had the opportunity to work in a particular niche yet. Rest assured however that we don't list any services unless we feel confident enough to complete them to your satisfaction.
This varies from project to project. We will include our time estimate in our initial quote. If you are on a tight deadline and need something by a very specific date then please be sure to mention that when requesting pricing information.
Being in the creative industry, template pricing simply doesn't work. Just as a construction company wouldn't set a flat rate for building a "house", we don't set rates for the services we offer. While other companies might post generic across the board prices for various services, we find that these companies generally also provide generic results. Each project is unique, and as such we feel that structuring our prices around your specific project is the best way to go.
Sure. Being in the creative line of work, there are always projects that come across our desks that don't quite fit a specific mold. We're glad you're considering us for your more unique project needs, and we look forward to steering away from our normal workload for a bit while we work on your project!
Yes. We are a company that puts morals before money. There are a few types of projects that we will turn away regardless of the potential profit. First and foremost, we will not provide any services that have to do with the adult entertainment industry, period. In addition, we will not accept projects dealing with "enhancement" pills, risqué plastic surgeries, lingerie, men's magazines or other crude forms of entertainment. We also reserve the right to turn away any other project on a case by case basis if we feel it isn't aligned with our beliefs, or if we simply feel it isn't a good fit for us.
Open positions will be posted on our career opportunities page. If we are in need of additional help, that's where you'll find the details. Feel free to submit your resume and/or portfolio in the meantime and we'll keep it on file for future consideration.
No. We phased out our web hosting services around 2004. We have since shifted our hosting clients to other providers. We found that the hosting industry simply wasn't worth competing in. We would rather focus our energy on the development and creative side of the industry.
No, although to be fair it's probably safe to say they didn't get the name from us either. We were small fish at the time. We have been using the name NURV since 1999. The movie did give us a nice boost in traffic though. Perhaps we're being biased when we say the movie was quite good, but we enjoyed it despite the ego boost it provided.
We get a lot of compliments on our logo. The cool thing about it is that all four letters are created from the same exact shape. The only difference from letter to letter is the orientation of the shapes. We feel this accurately reflects our creative thinking process. We are creative thinkers first, artists second, and problem solvers third. We feel that any other order would limit our creativity. If creativity is what you are looking for, look no further. The number one followup question we usually are asked regarding our logo is whether or not we came up with the logo before the name. Believe it or not we had named the company NURV before we came up with this logo. Call it fate if you like.
